Launch of Adventure Capital Campaign

Sligo LEADER Partnership has recently embarked on a campaign in conjunction with Starling Digital Media and local recreation providers to promote Sligo as the Recreation/Adventure Capital for Ireland. The campaign will operate across all social media platforms and will run over 52 weeks promoting usage of the #AdventurecapitalofIreland. This campaign will assist the industry in showcasing Sligo as the best of everything in adventure and simply requires people to adopt the tag in their social media.

The official launch of the campaign took place on Saturday, March 28th and was attended by over fifty of Sligo’s tourism, adventure and recreational providers. Leading marketing experts Allan Mulrooney of Thinkhouse PR and founder of GoStrandhill, and Allan Dixon, former job title holder of ‘Best Job in The World’ with Tourism Australia, were on hand to share insight in to social networks Instagram and Facebook.

Barry Mottershead, founder of Sligo Kayak Tours and big wave surfer at Mullaghmore, said of the campaign: "I think this campaign is a brilliant idea, and the beauty of it is that it’s easy to implement no matter who you are; everyone can get behind it whether you are coming from a commercial point of view, or are just posting a photo of your beach walk on Facebook. It is important to note that this campaign will not only benefit tourism related business, but every business within the county. More people coming to County Sligo will mean more money put into our local communities, and it will filter down through all spectrums of business."

Denise Rushe of Starling, explained "There are also the winter swells at Mullaghmore which attract surfers from across the globe; just last month surfers arrived from Hawaii and Portugal to surf these waves. It’s also the Year of Yeats which means W.B. Yeats’ poetry, much of it inspired by Sligo’s landscape, is a big talking point across the globe. We have all the ingredients to make this Adventure Capital a reality, we just need to get behind it and promote it."

As part of the #AdventureCapital campaign, Sligo LEADER partnership is providing an hour-long one-to-one digital marketing mentoring session with tourism recreational businesses.
