Sligo Rovers

Sligo Rovers FC was established in 1928 and is one of the few community owned clubs in the League of Ireland. The Club identified the need to develop a strategic masterplan for Sligo Showgrounds, which will be informed by engagement with key local and national stakeholders.

The delivery of a masterplan will facilitate the continuous operation of the club in a manner that recognises its legacy and provides a fulfilling experience for players, supporters, the host community, the City and county Sligo, the wider region and others. This is both an aspiration and a necessity for the club, with the over-riding objective of delivering a world class experience that is unique to Sligo Rovers.

The Masterplan was awarded €29,778 of LEADER aid.

Sligo LEADER Partnership CLG is also delighted to be able to support the club off the pitch through the TÚS programme. This has provided an ideal work placement opportunity offering roles in pitch maintenance, grounds keeping and facilities management. The club has always espoused its role as an intrinsic part of the Sligo Community and TÚS participants have always been made feel part of the Rovers family.
