Abbeyquarter Men’s Group
Set up in May 2010, this Men’s Group based at the entrance of Cranmore has 8 regular members and of late some younger members have shown interest. In 2012, the men’s group put together a successful funding with Sligo County Council and was able to build a polytunnel and with the support of ETB in providing horticulture courses.
The group also have access to a building with a large open area and a well-maintained vegetable garden; it even has a pizza oven! The group also take part in Art Classes while some workshops are held in the Model Arts Centre.
They are well placed in the local community and assist with projects run by Cranmore Co-Op.
Earlier this year, they successfully applied for a SICAP grant which sees the group heading on a day trip to Strokestown Park and Famine Museum and have been so kind to also include the Women’s Group. Last year they visited the Museum of Country Life in Turlough Park, Mayo. This group really enjoy excursions.
Abbeyquarter Men’s Group are eager for new members to join and continues the journey of creativity, learning and fun. It is open Monday from 9am to 1pm and Tuesday to Friday from 11am – 1pm.
