• Three-part video series is aimed at improving job prospects of candidates of all ages and backgrounds

Sligo LEADER is today launching their SICAP InterVU+, a virtual interview practice tool for jobseekers who want to make the best possible impression on prospective employers.

Key to InterVU+ is a three-part online video series containing helpful tips on how to respond to typical interview questions and avoid common pitfalls. There is also advice to candidates on how best to present themselves, including the importance of not appearing too casual and maintaining a positive tone.

Developed by Sligo LEADER in partnership with the Local Community Development Committee (LCDC), Pobal and the Department of Community and Rural Development under the Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme (SICAP), the video series is designed to improve the interview prospects of young and inexperienced candidates, middle-aged candidates looking for a career change, and candidates hoping to return to the workforce after a prolonged absence.

InterVU+ will be used by Sligo LEADER’s Employment Support Workers in one-to-one sessions with clients who can then use the videos to practise their interview skills in their own time. When clients have absorbed the videos’ key messages, they can further hone their skills by requesting a mock interview with SICAP staff.

InterVU+ offers our SICAP clients, many of whom are long-term unemployed, a pressure-free environment in which to practise their interview skills. Our Employment Support Workers can use the tool in one-to-one meetings with clients who can then practise at home. InterVU+ is a chance for our SICAP clients to familiarise themselves with the interview process and rehearse their answers to a range of typical interview questions.”
