Healthy Ireland Funded Projects in 2020
Healthy Ireland funded a number of projects in 2020 focused on improving the health and the wellbeing of those most vulnerable in our community.
Healthy Ireland 2019-2021: Older Person’s
Main focus for project was Older Adult’s Nutrition. The platform for the project was Ocean FM, whereby 10 daily tips on Older Adult nutrition was aired approx.. 6 times across Ocean FM shows for two weeks. Along with the daily tips, the project also incorporated 5 weekly nutritional talks on Ocean FM’s Francie Boylan show through a consultant nutritionist. The emphasis each week been on preparing the body for winter, boosting immunity and increasing overall health. The feedback back from the project was hugely positive with a considerable number of texts and calls received in relation to the talks.
Healthy Ireland New Communities: Hygiene Packs & Reducing Hygiene Poverty:
The New Communities targeted area for this project was Asylum Seekers and Refugees. Through engaging numerous agencies with direct contact with the targeted group. Sligo LEADER Partnership sourced and distributed Hygiene Packs to residents of direct provision centre’s to help reduce hygiene poverty.
Healthy Ireland Unemployed
This programme is targeting individuals who are unemployed. The ‘Way’s to Wellness’ Initiative programme will focus on anxiety that surrounds being unemployed and especially for those unemployed persons taking up employment post. The programme will be ran over two online workshops, looking are ways to increase awareness of existing services and learning new techniques for stress control/ anxiety.
