Calming a Busy Mind

Sligo LEADER Partnership worked with John Graham, a transformational coach and speaker, to develop a series of 10 videos on ‘Calming a Busy Mind’.

By exploring your relationship with thoughts and emotions, using mindful and meditation practice, the sessions aim to help you to:

  • Learn how to notice more peace and calm, no matter what’s happening in your life
  • Let go of mind chatter
  • Worry less
  • Heal quicker
  • Sleep better

The Calm a Busy Mind project was undertaken by Sligo Leader Partnership, in collaboration with John Graham of from John G Coaching, as part of our Education and Lifelong Learning supports under the SICAP programme.

Session 1: Introduction to Mindfulness & Meditation

Session 2: Looking in the right place for peace

Session 3: Our sensory experience

Learn how we experience the world through our senses.

Session 4: The nature of thought

Learn to understand the temporary nature of thought, the lack of control we have over what pops in our heads, the fact thoughts are always coming and going.

Session 5: Judgements: Common causes of a busy mind.

Learn the effect judging things as bad, wrong, worse, negative can have on us and how to use meditation to neutralise your thoughts and emotions.

Session 6: Resistance

Learn how to use meditation to allow experience just to happen and how this can help us deal with things we have to do in ‘life’.

Session 7: The illusion of past & future

Understand how thoughts of past and future can create a busy mind and how to overcome this.

Session 8: Breath meditations

Learn how breathing can be a useful point of reference when meditating.

Session 9: Body scan meditation

Session 10. Recap Meditation

The final video in the series pulls together all the key messages in our 10 part Calm a Busy Mind series.
