This project was funded under the Rural Regeneration and Development Fund which seeks to provide investment to support rural renewal, strengthen and build resilience in rural communities and assist in the regeneration of towns and villages with a population of less than 10,000, and outlying areas.
Sligo LEADER Partnership were successful in making an application in conjunction with Connacht GAA to develop the world’s largest sports air dome in Bekan, Co. Mayo.
The Air Dome provides and indoor facility sufficiently large to accommodate a full-size GAA pitch and to transform into a venue for exhibitions, concerts and conferences. SLPC managed the €2.1 million of RRDF funding directly towards this project.
