Strandhill Community Park serves a catchment area from Larkhill road to Ballisodare bridge. It is one of the fastest growing areas in Sligo. The population in area is currently circa 7,000 people.
The Community Park was awarded €149,586 of LEADER aid in a bid to make the ark. This innovative proposal is to turn the park into Sligo’s first environmentally friendly green park by providing a rain harvesting and irrigation system, provision of a low energy sheltered area at the main pitch and playground incl. a mother and baby area and introducing a waste management system and environmentally friendly energy sources.
The park offers an ideal opportunity for participants on TÚS and RSS to work in a progressive community setting for those interested in contributing to the care and improvement of a well utilised facility.
