Loughan Stables is an existing successful equestrian business based in Beltra, Co. Sligo.
The location of the business along the Wild Atlantic Way enables it to offer equestrian activities to visitors. Due to rainfall in the West of Ireland the business did not have year-round use of its existing cross-country track and could only operate effectively from June to September therefore was missing out on vital visitor revenue for several months of the year.
The promoters decided to upgrade the track to meet all weather requirements. They were awarded LEADER grant aid to install an all-weather track to follow the existing cross-country fences. Equine tourism is of huge significance to the north west and having an all-weather eventing track in Loughan enables year-round visitor footfall.
