The Yeats Society of Ireland was founded in 1958 to preserve and promote the legacy of the work of the Yeats family in particular W. B. and Jack Yeats.
It is an international literary society that has hosted students, lecturers and poets from Ireland, the United Kingdom, Europe, the United States of America, Asia, the Middle East, Oceania, Africa and the Americas.
The Yeats International Summer School which was founded by the Society since 1960.
The Yeats Society has been a recipient of LEADER funding of €8,923 to develop its website and €9,495 to develop a Yeats Trail App both of which are to promote cultural Yeatsian tourism to Sligo.
The Yeats Society offers TÚS and RSS participants an opportunity to be part of a team bringing Sligo’s Yeatsian cultural offering to a worldwide audience. The broad scope of placements include: Administration, Social Media and Marketing, Tour Guiding and Curating the exhibition, Book-keeping and General Maintenance.
